The 2010 ARG Challenge will take place in the historic and beautiful town of Bastrop Texas, located 30 miles southeast of Austin. Racers will experience challenges on Lake Bastrop and in the Lost Pines, a terrain unique to this part of Texas.

$70 per person ($140 per team) technical women's race shirts provided to teams that sign up by June 1st ONLY.

Late registration after June 10th by call in reservation only. 512-586-5182. Unfortunately T-shirts and goodie bags cannot be guaranteed
for late entries since they must be ordered in advance. There are a few extra team slots open for last minute registration on a first come, first serve basis. You must call to guarantee registration. Sorry, no race day registration due to the limited number of maps available. Please note race directors will be unavailable 6/11-6/16 and will return calls/emails on 6/17. Thanks.

 

  Racers will be required to carry their own hydration system, there will be NO WATER STOPS on the course.

No support allowed outside of transition area.

Course Description:

 

4-6 mile navigation trek
Racers will receive waterproof 1:24 maps with pre-marked check points. No plotting is necessary. Using a compass and provided map, racers will navigate to check points to punch passports. You will have an opportunity to ask questions before race start and a volunteer will be available for navigation refresher.


10-12 mile mountain bike
Mountain biking will consist of hilly double track, and beginner to intermediate single track. Mountain bikes required. Helmets must be worn on bikes at all times. Each team must have a bell or horn on bike.

6 mile paddle
Paddling will take place on Lake Bastrop. Teams must supply their own boats, PFDs and paddles. Boats may be rented from Rising Phoenix Adventures and will be delivered and picked up at race site. Must wear PFDs in water.

3 hour race with a 5 hour cut off time.

Helmets MUST be worn on bikes at all times no exceptions.

 

 

PFDs must be worn when in the boat and in the water.

Race Overview:

 

Participants should be prepared to cover the distances as described above. This is a real adventure race and will be physically challenging for some. The event takes place rain or shine and bad weather only adds to the adventure. Race director may make course changes in the event of severe weather. Be prepared for bad conditions. Even in the heat of the summer you could need a rain jacket.

Team challenges
To add fun and excitement to the race, teams may face challenges during the course of the event that will require them to test their teamwork skills. Specific details of mystery events will be kept secret until race day.
